Learn creative strategies for financing your business during the pandemic.

Financing a business is not always easy and due to the restrictions on businesses during the pandemic, many business owners have seen their sales and profits decline. Sometimes this means that traditional bank lenders are unwilling to extend credit while small businesses are seeing their cashflows shrink. In addition, many start-ups lack the capital and credit criteria to initially borrow from traditional sources. In this workshop, participants will learn about the pros and cons of alternative business financing options.

Pam Schallhorn is a Regional Specialist in Community and Economic Development with University of Illinois Extension. Her teaching and research interests include entrepreneurial development, downtown redevelopment, the outmigration of youth, and economic development policy. She holds a master’s degree in Political Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Finance. Previously, Pam was a Vice President of commercial lending for over fifteen years and Director of the Small Business Development Center in Rockford, IL.
