The Studio Expansion Project

The Studio entrance

Completion is scheduled for summer 2023!

THE LIBRARY is expanding, building an 8,000-square-foot space on the lower level, called The Studio. The design includes a makerspace, computer lab, gaming area, and recording studios. This innovative area will be utilized for library programs, including hosting teens after school.

The project includes adding a public staircase to the lower level, so The Studio and FriendShop Bookstore will be accessible by both elevator and stairs.

Made possible with support from the Library Foundation, Library Friends, and the City of Champaign.

Customers who have allergies or sensitivity to fumes or other irritants related to construction may want to use caution when visiting. We are happy to help you get what you need—with curbside service, Book Bundles, ebooks, and other options.
