Make a Gift Today

The library offers lifelong learning opportunities you can’t find anywhere else. It is a unique asset for our community that we want to keep strong, now and in the future.

— Phyllis & Kyle Robeson

Your gift to the Champaign Public Library Foundation can make the difference between a good library and a truly extraordinary one.

Tribute Gifts

Our family is honored that our father, James Fink, has been remembered with memorial gifts to the Library Foundation, because he and our mother, Phyllis, knew the importance of the library to the people of Champaign.

Gifts that honor, celebrate, or remember

Gifts may be made in memory or in honor of someone special. Your contribution can be combined with others to create a memorial fund or to celebrate weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or other meaningful occasions.
Every gift is acknowledged with a letter to the donor. Upon request, we will also notify the honoree or the family of the person being remembered.

Gift books

Remember or honor someone special with a book—or a selection of books—featuring a personalized gift plate. A gift of $50 will purchase one book for the adult collection, and a gift of $25 will purchase one children’s book. Larger gifts allow for the purchase of multiple books.

Your gift book(s) can serve as a lasting memorial or a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion.

Special Gifts

Who knows what the future will bring? I do know that this library will be part of preparing young people for our changing world. My family and I like being part of that effort.

— Donald C. Dodds, Jr.

Shelf sponsorship

For a gift of $5,000, you can sponsor a shelf in the library. Your sponsorship — and any person or event honored on your Shelf Sponsor plaque — will be recognized in our library for generations to come.

Engraved glass donor wall

For a gift of $10,000 or more, your name or that of someone you wish to honor or remember can be engraved on our beautiful glass donor wall.

Named endowment

For a gift of $50,000 or more, you can create a permanent fund named for you or someone you wish to honor or remember.  This gift is invested and the interest earned is used to enrich library services.

Legacy Gifts

Our library is one of our city’s greatest assets. With a great legacy dating back to a gift from A.C. Burnham in 1896, the library continues to enrich life in our community. By including the library in my estate plan, I can help continue this strong tradition.

— Edith Ann Stotler

You can ensure a strong future for the library by including the Champaign Public Library Foundation in your estate plans. Your legacy as someone who cared deeply about your community can be established through any of the following methods:

Bequests

Make a bequest to the Champaign Public Library Foundation in your will. This can be done when you write the will, or you can easily add a codicil to an existing will.

Bequests can be for specific amounts of money, specific assets, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after all other bequests have been honored.

 Sample wording for bequest

I give ______% and/or $____________ of my residuary estate to the Champaign Public Library Foundation, 200 West Green Street, Champaign, IL 61820, to provide funding for____________ at the Champaign Public Library or for library collections, services, and/or programs as determined by the administration and Board of Directors of the Champaign Public Library Foundation.

Life insurance & IRAs

Name the Champaign Public Library Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account, such as an IRA.

Obtain a beneficiary designation form and name the Library Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary.

Gift of real estate

A residence, farm, vacation home, commercial property, or undeveloped land could be the basis of a significant gift to the Champaign Public Library Foundation.

Real estate can be used to make an outright gift or to set up certain types of planned gifts such as charitable remainder trusts. You can also make a gift of your home that allows you to continue to live there throughout your lifetime.

Charitable remainder trust

Under a charitable remainder trust, cash or other assets are transferred into an irrevocable trust which manages the assets and makes payments to you or your beneficiaries, either for life or for a fixed number of years.
