Bamboo Flooring Project

Q:   What   is the bamboo flooring project?

A:   The   bamboo flooring  project involves the construction and replacement of the existing bamboo floor in the lobby and café seating area  at the  Main Library.

Q:   What   is the duration of the project?

A:   The   project is scheduled to begin on March 2 and will continue through April 22.

Q:   Which areas   of the library will be affected?  

A:   The  Robeson Pavilion rooms, café, and lobby restrooms will be inaccessible during this timeframe.   Customers will be directed   to   utilize   the   restrooms   located   on   the   2nd   floor   of   the   library.

Q:   Will I still be able to browse the new material section?

A:   Yes! Items from the new adult fiction   stacks closest to the lobby will be merged with the books in the new materials/AV area.   Library staff are happy   to   help you   find   an item if needed. Please note that the new books from these stacks will return to their   original location near the 1st floor   Ask Here desk once the   project   is   complete.

Q:   What accommodation will be provided to alleviate noise levels or dust?

A:   If available, staff can offer the use of either a study room or meeting room. The Quiet Study Room located on the second floor of the library may also be utilized. We   also  offer    headphones,  noise   cancelling   earplugs, and face  masks   upon request.
*Please note,    the Quiet Study Room will be unavailable March 6 through March 17 for Primary Election Early Voting.

Q:   Are there additional resources available?

A: Our Curbside Pickup service  can be used to  request and pick  up books, movies,  and more including loanable technology such as Chromebooks, Hotspots, and Kindles. Visit champaign.org/devices to learn more.

Q:   Where will library programs be held?

A: Library programs and events will be held in alternative programming spaces within the library. Visit champaign.org/events for information about upcoming   programs.

Q:   How will I enter the   library while the lobby is under construction?

A: The library entrance will be temporarily modified for the duration of the project but will revert to the original layout once the project is complete.

Q:   Will there be an area  in    the library where food is permitted?

A: Our exterior café seating will remain   open as weather   permits.
