Celebrate National Poetry Month with Michael J. La Due!
Drawing from his 30+ years as a poet, Michael J. La Due will talk about the art of poetry and read from his work at this National Poetry Month celebration. A longtime Champaign resident who has served on the City Council and Library Board, La Due has read verse across the U.S. and workshopped with Hettie Jones and and Willie Perdomo. He has participated in the Illinois Arts Council–funded Jazz Poetry Project; the U of I Jazz Threads program, Jazz Vespers; and No Struggle...No Progress: Honoring Frederick Douglass, a SPEAK Cafe event at Krannert Art Museum.
