Want to learn more about foraging? Join us for a virtual presentation by a local forager, Blye Widmar, as he shares tips and tricks for foraging.
Foraging: what is it? Learn from local forager Blye Widmar as he discusses his experience in collecting provisions from the land. He will discuss mushroom identification, wild herbs, and seasonal finds. He will talk about some of his favorite tools of the trade and take some of your forage-related questions.
Blye is the Senior Instrument Maintenance Instructor at Exelon's Clinton Power Station. He is a graduate of the 2020 Exelon Emerging Leaders course, station innovation ambassador, and two-time speaker at the Conference on Nuclear Training and Education. He spends his free time foraging around the local area, working on electronics, and dabbling in music.
This event is part of the Parable Path CU collaboration, coordinated by Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. There will be discussion groups and arts programming taking place throughout the year, culminating in Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower, an opera by Toshi Reagon and Bernice Johnson Reagon at Krannert Center in February 2022. The Parable Path CU collaborators include Champaign Central High School Library, Champaign Public Library, The Urbana Free Library, University of Illinois Residence Hall Libraries, University Laboratory High School Library, University Library at the University of Illinois, and the Urbana High School Library.
