Douglass Branch  -  Saturday Makerspace Volunteer


Date:  1st  and 3rd    Saturdays of the month 

Program Times:  12 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

 Location:   Douglass Branch Library is located at 504 E. Grove Street, Champaign, IL 61820.  

 

Program Description:  

Want  to create something special?  Drop in on  the first and third Saturdays of each month from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to explore the Makerspace!   Library staff will be available to answer your questions.   

The Makerspace at the Douglass Branch Library is a new space connected to the meeting room. The Makerspace includes creative tools like 3D printers, Glowforge laser cutters, Cricut machines, sewing machines, and recording booths. 

 

Volunteer Job Description: 

Volunteers are needed twice a month on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. starting on April 18.  Volunteers  will help facilitate the use of Makerspace materials, including the 3D printer,  Glowforge  laser cutter, Cricut machine, sewing machines, recording booth, VR headsets, PS 5, and Nintendo Switch.   They would help with setup and cleanup, as well. Volunteers 18 years or older are welcome.  Volunteers who work at children’s events/activities on a regular basis.    Background check is required. 


Please contact the library’s volunteer coordinator to set up a volunteer interview.  An interview with a volunteer coordinator must be completed before volunteer work can begin. All of our volunteer positions  include ongoing tasks and are not for a one-time or  short-term volunteer opportunity. We ask for a minimum  commitment of four months when volunteering. Every volunteer will have a regular working schedule with a minimum of two hours each week.
