If the Champaign Public Library is unable to meet your need for a meeting space, here are some other places to try. This is not an exhaustive list, and it does not list retail spaces (e.g. hotels). The details, particularly the fees, change frequently. If you find errors in these listings, we would appreciate hearing about them.

The Alice Campbell Alumni Center

Anita Purves Nature Center

Mostly available for evening rentals.  4 rooms. Capacity: 25 people for smaller rooms; can combine two large rooms for seating for 25-75 people, or 50-60 with tables.
Fee charged. Please call for availability — need 2 weeks advance notice. Charges depend on use.

Bresnan Meeting Center

Fee: $40/hour, to be paid two weeks in advance.

Brookens Gymnasium

Capacity: 200 people, seated.

Champaign City Council Chambers

102 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820
Governmental and civic groups only. Application form, available from the City Manager’s office, must be filled out and presented at least 48 hours before the meeting. No regular organizational membership meetings.
Capacity: 160 people seated plus another 50 standing.
Fee: $50 plus additional fees for special equipment.

Champaign Fire Department, Stations 5, 6 and downtown.

(Station 5 – 1810 N. Mattis; Station 6 – 3911 W. Windsor Rd; Downtown – 307 S. Randolph)
Capacity: 49 seated, 36 with tables. No private parties — community groups only.
Fee: $30. Eligible users can use the meeting space free of charge. Contact the fire department to determine eligibility.

Douglass Branch Library Meeting Room

504 E. Grove St., Champaign, IL 61820
To schedule meetings during Douglass Branch Library hours, reserve online. For other times, book this space through the Champaign Park District. This space is jointly owned by the library and the Park District.
Capacity: 80 seated.
Champaign Park District reservations include a fee. Call for information.

Douglass Community Center

Capacity: (Gym) 650 people seated, 320; with chairs and tables.
Fee: $60/hour

Hays Center

Capacity: 65 seated.
$100 refundable damage deposit. $40/hour room use, $35 for kitchen use. Two hour minimum.

Illini Union

24 hour advance notice requested, but may be able to accommodate less.

CityView Events and Meeting Center

Lake House at Crystal Lake Park

Capacity: indoors only: 50 seated, 60 standing, or including outdoor terrace, 100 seated, 200 standing.

Leonard Recreation Center

Phillips Recreation Center

Two hour minimum rental.
Capacity: 30–120 people (50 to 130 standing or up to 90 with tables.) Fee charged. Call for more information.

Savoy Recreation Center

Springer Cultural Center

Fee: $45/hour for residents; $67.50/hour for non-residents; $35 for nonprofit groups.

Spurlock Museum

University YMCA at UIUC

University of Illinois

Priority is given to University functions and University related groups for all meeting spaces on the University campus, however non-university groups and individuals may request meeting space.   Depending on the space requested, the form may need to be submitted to different departments. Fees will apply.  

Urbana Civic Center

Note: One room can be separated into separate areas.
Capacity: 6 to 300 people seated, 350 standing.

The Urbana Free Library

210 W. Green St. Urbana, IL 61801
The Library offers an auditorium, a conference room, and two small study rooms, which are intended primarily for Library use, including programs, meetings, and other activities. When these rooms are not in use by the Library or the City, they may be used without charge.

Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center

202 S. Broadway (Urbana Post Office Building), Rm. 100, Urbana, IL 61803
Note: Large areas for meetings, studying; also office and studio space for lease.
Capacity: wide variety of spaces.
Basic fees: $40/hr for members and $50/hr for non-members. Call for more information.
