According to the revised 2000 US Census and Special 2007 Champaign Census:

  • The population in Champaign County was 193,636 with an estimate for 2008.
  • The population of the City of Champaign was 67,959 in 2000 and 75,254 in 2007 according to the official results of the 2007 Special Census.
  • Urbana population was 37,362 with an estimate of 38,725 in 2003.
  • Danville population was 33,904 with an estimate of 33,106 in 2003.
  • Rantoul population was 12,918.
  • Savoy population was 6,200.

Population estimates of the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan statistical area, which includes Champaign, Piatt and Ford counties, has increased to 224,191 (+0.3%) from July 2007 to July 2008.
