Request a book and we’ll get it ready to pick up.
Use the catalog to request an item; we’ll get it ready for you to pick up. See if your request is ready, change the pick-up location, or cancel it. If we don’t have what you want, ask us to buy it!
How do I request something (place a hold)?
To request something:
- Find it in the catalog and request it, or
- Call us at 217/403–2070 during library hours (for children‘s books, call 217/403–2030).
How do I know when the item I requested has arrived?
If you‘ve given us your e-mail address, you‘ll receive a handy e-mail notice as soon as your item is ready. Otherwise, we will mail you a notice. Note: You can provide us with your e-mail address by adding it to your account information online.
Can I cancel a request?
If you‘ve changed your mind or no longer need a requested item, canceling your request is a nice courtesy for patrons who may be waiting for the same item.
- Cancel your request in your account information online.
- Call 217/403–2000 and ask us to cancel your request for you.
Can I change where to pick up a requested item?
Yes. You can either:
- Cancel the request in your account information, then place it again, choosing the different location for pick-up.
- Call us at 217/403–2000 and ask us to change your pick-up location.
Can I pick up something on the Bookmobile?
