Where can I have something notarized by a notary public?
Free notary service
- The Urbana Free Library, during open hours; especially useful on weekends when many banks are closed; open Monday to Thursday 9 am to 9 pm, Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm, Sundays from 1 to 5 pm; 217/367–4405
- Associated Professional Services, Inc., 1640 County Road 500 East, Champaign, 217/898–2892

- Most banks and law firms; the closest bank to our Main Library is Main Street Bank and Trust, corner of Springfield and Randolph, 217/351–2700. There is a fee of $1 for people who do not have accounts there, but it‘s free to account holders. Other banks may offer free notary service for everyone.
For a Fee
- Beck‘s License and Title
1506 S. Neil, Champaign, 398–6061; $1 per signature
Note: Despite what it says in the phone book, Kinko‘s does NOT have notary service.
Could you ban cell phones in the library?
We prefer to treat cell phone use just like any other conversation. Our librarians and security personnel do their best to encourage appropriate behavior in the library. But any time you find noise or talking disruptive, including cell phone use, please feel free to let us know. We will gladly ask that they speak more quietly or move to our entry area.
Where can I get those celebrity READ posters that I see in the library?
You can purchase them from the ALA Store, American Library Association. Please note that some of the ones we display may be older and out of print.
