“One of my best childhood memories....”

By Mary G., November 2007

One of my best childhood memories was my weekly visit to the Champaign Public Library on Church St. My mother introduced me to the vast resources available there. In the many cities I have lived in over the past fifty-plus years my library card was applied for within the first week of moving. I have introduced my five children to the importance and privileges of having a library card available to them. My daughter and I recently obtained a library card for my 6-year-old grandson. He felt quite excited to be able to get his own library books. It brought back to mind how excited I was when my mother took me to get my first Champaign Public Library card over fifty years ago.
