Directions to the Main Library

The Main Library is just south of downtown Champaign. Please note: Until the library parking lot and landscaping are complete (by early summer 2008), the parking lot entrance is off Randolph Street.

From I-74

Take the Neil Street exit and turn south. Go through downtown Champaign. Turn right on Green Street (just before the CVS Drug Store). Go one block and turn right at the stoplight onto Randolph, a one-way street. Immediately get into the left lane and turn left into the library’s free parking lot.

From I-72

Follow the interstate straight into Champaign; it becomes University Avenue, one-way east. When the one-way ends (at the corner of West Side Park in downtown Champaign), turn right onto State Street, one-way going south. At the second stoplight (Green Street), turn left. Go one block and turn left again onto Randolph Street, a one-way street. Be ready to turn left immediately into the library entrance.

From the University of Illinois campus

Go west on Green Street, under the underpass and past Neil Street. Turn right at the next light onto Randolph Street, a one-way street. Be ready to turn left immediately into the library entrance.

From the Airport

Drive north into Champaign on Route 45 (Neil Street). Turn left onto Green Street (the stoplight just past the CVS Drug Store, on your left). Go one block and turn right onto Randolph, a one-way street. Be ready to turn left immediately into the library entrance.

Directions to the Douglass Branch Library

The Douglass Branch Library sits at the south end of Douglass Park at 504 East Grove Street, west of B. T. Washington School and between two Champaign Park District buildings. Enter on the side facing into Douglass Park, where you’ll see a sculpture honoring the library‘s namesake, Frederick Douglass.

From I-74

Take the Neil Street south exit. In a few blocks, turn left at the light onto Bradley Avenue. Cross the railroad tracks and turn right several blocks later on Fifth Street. You’ll pass Douglass Park on your left; at the end of the Park, turn right on Grove Street. Immediately turn right into the free parking lot. Walk across Fifth Street, past the Douglass Annex building, and enter the library through the park.

From I-72

From the airport

Drive into Champaign on Rte. 45, which becomes Neil Street. In downtown Champaign, turn right on University Avenue. Go about half a mile and turn left on Fifth Street. Cross the railroad tracks. At the fourth intersection, turn left on Grove Street and immediately right into the parking lot. Walk across Fifth Street and enter the library through the park.
