At the library, you’ll be part of a team whose customer service wins rave reviews. With over 50,000 visitors a month, our library is one of the most lively and popular places in town.

Your work can change lives

We help kids learn to read so they can succeed. We connect people to ideas and information. We enrich everyday life, too, with a huge selection of popular books, movies, and CDs, plus free computer access for everyone. Close to 120 enthusiastic library employees make all of that happen every day.

Where You’ll Work

Our Main Library at 200 West Green St. is a beautiful library building opened in January 2008. It's near downtown Champaign.
Our Douglass Branch Library at 504 E. Grove St. is a friendly, neighborhood library built in 1997. It's on the edge of Douglass Park.

Retirement & savings

Eligible library employees have retirement savings set aside through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, IMRF.
Library employees can participate in the City of Champaign’s deferred compensation plan, administered by the ICMA Retirement Corporation, a way to reduce your income taxes and put money into savings automatically.
Library employees are also eligible to participate in the Champaign Municipal Employees’ Credit Union. The Credit Union offers vehicle loans at competitive rates, signature loans, IRAs, CDs, and a U. S. Savings Bond Purchase Program.
